Florida will become the 20th state in the country to offer in state tuition to certain undocumented immigrants.
Last week the Florida legislature passed a bill that will allow undocumented students that have attended Florida schools for at least three (3) years to pay in state tuition at Florida public colleges and universities. Governor Rick Scott indicated that he will sign the bill into law. This will provide a big relief to those students that qualify since currently the out of state tuition rates can be three (3) to four (4) times higher than the in state tuition rates.
If you are an undocumented student, have attended a Florida school for at least (3) years, and are currently in a public college or university or are interested in attending a public college or university, you should apply for the new in state tuition rates.
