Ms. Evelyn J. Pabon Figueroa is a member in the Orlando office of CPLS, P.A. She is a member of the firm’s Immigration, Criminal, and Bankruptcy groups.

Attorney Pabon Figueroa went to law school in Puerto Rico and, while in law school, immigration and criminal law were her favorite subjects. During law school, she completed an internship at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office and completed her one-year practice requirement in the criminal defense clinic of the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law. The clinic requirements included meeting with potential clients to determine if the clinic could assist them and what the best course of action would be and representing these clients in court.

Attorney Pabon Figueroa graduated in 2004 and was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar and the Florida Bar in 2005. After practicing as an attorney for almost 3 years, in 2008, Attorney Pabon Figueroa started practicing immigration law. As an immigration attorney, she has represented individuals and businesses at different levels with US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), US consulates and embassies (consular processing of visas), US immigration courts, and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). In addition to representing clients in immigration related proceedings, she provides seminars to the community and to other attorneys regarding immigration related matters such as citizenship, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), family based immigration, employment and business based immigration, and the effects of criminal issues on someone’s immigration status.

While representing her immigration clients, Attorney Pabon Figueroa would regularly encounter criminal law related issues that were affecting her clients’ immigration status. In an effort to better assist her clients, she started working with post-conviction related issues under the guidance of an experienced criminal defense attorney and law professor. Understanding the effect a conviction has, not just on someone’s immigration status, she has expanded her practice to include the representation of individuals in post-conviction relief matters.

Ms. Pabon Figueroa is active in various professional and community organizations. She is a member of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) and volunteers as a Guardian Ad Litem and in the OCBA’s Teen Court project. She has spoken at community events on topics regarding bankruptcy, foreclosure, social security, disability, and immigration. She is a Member of the Town of Oakland Planning and Zoning Board.

She is fluent in English and Spanish.
