Lisa Hu Barquist is an attorney in the Orlando offices of CPLS, P. A. Attorney Barquist obtained her undergraduate at Yale University in English Literature and her J.D. from the University of Southern California. Her primary areas of practice are white-collar defense, complex business litigation (Federal and State), and corporate and partnership law. She speaks Mandarin Chinese.

Lisa has practiced law in the public and private sectors, national and boutique law firms, on civil and federal criminal matters, and as General Counsel in a manufacturing/logistics company on all transactional matters. Her education, training, and experience give her a breadth and wealth of legal, practical, life experiences to clients and approach to all matters at hand. For example, she devoted 11 years serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida prosecuting criminal narcotics cases and civil Medicare fraud.

As a Chinese-American female immigrant who has dealt with various forms of prejudice and pre-conceived notions, she has a keen sense of fairness and how lawyers and the justice system can help in leveling the playing field between parties of unequal strength. She enjoys the practice of law because it allows her the opportunity to do justice through integrity, professionalism and also plain good luck along the way, too. She is passionate about the humane treatment of all creatures and environmental sustainability for future generations.

She is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, and California. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern and Middle District of Florida, U.S. District Court, Western District of New York, U.S. District Court, Central District of California, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been active in the following: General Counsel and Board member, Asia Connect Media Corporation, President, Asian Pacific American Bar Association of South Florida, Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Tampa Bay, Florida Bar Federal Government and Public Policy Committee, Officer and Board member, Florida China Chamber of Commerce, Ex officio Chairwoman, Miami-Dade County Asian American Advisory Board, Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board, and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Trust.
